Terms
How the rewards at Grovado Café work, written plainly. If anything here is unclear, ask at the counter and we will explain it properly.
Café credit
Hand over AED 200.00 at the counter and we put AED 210.00 on your account. The extra AED 10.00 is a bonus we add; you have not paid for it.
What expires and what does not
- The AED 10.00 bonus expires 30 days after the day you bought it. Anything left of it on that day is gone.
- The AED 200.00 you actually paid does not expire. It stays on your account until you spend it.
- When you spend, the money closest to expiring goes first. You never lose the bonus while still holding credit you paid for.
- Your account page shows the balance and the date anything is due to expire.
Refunds
Ask us and we will refund a top-up, as long as your balance still covers the amount you paid. What goes back is what you paid, to the card it came from or across the counter; the bonus that came with that top-up is withdrawn. A balance cannot be transferred to another person or paid out when it expires.
If we have made a mistake, tell us and we will put it right.
Using it
- Credit is spent at the counter, or at checkout on the website when you are signed in, on anything we sell.
- If your balance does not cover the bill, pay the rest by cash or card as usual.
- Credit belongs to the account it was bought for and cannot be moved to another.
- If an order paid with credit is cancelled, the credit goes back on your account with the expiry date it originally had.
Gift cards
- A gift card is a code. Whoever reads it out at the counter can spend it, so treat it like cash and send it only to the person it is for.
- A card composed on the website is reserved but not live until it has been paid for at the counter. Until then it cannot be redeemed.
- A card is spent in one go. If the order comes to less than the card, the difference is not refunded, so spend it on something worth its value.
- An unredeemed gift card can be refunded to whoever bought it. Ask us; what was paid goes back the way it came, and the code stops working.
- Lost the code? If you bought it while signed in, it is on your account page. If not, tell us who it was for and roughly when, and we will look.
Your account
- You sign in with your email address and a password. A forgotten password is replaced through a link we email you, which works once and expires after 15 minutes.
- Adding your mobile number links what you buy at the counter to your account, so your orders appear in one place. It is optional.
- Your account page lists every device signed in. If one is not yours, sign out everywhere and change your password.
- Ask us to close your account and we will, though we keep the sales records the law requires us to keep.
What we know about you
A café needs very little, so we hold very little.
- Your name, email address and mobile number, when you give them.
- What you ordered and what it cost. We are required to keep sales records, and it is also how your balance is worked out.
- Which devices are signed in to your account.
We do not sell any of it, share it with advertisers, or email you about anything except your own orders unless you have asked us to. If you asked and changed your mind, there is a switch on your account page.
The website sets a cookie to keep you signed in and another to remember which language you are reading. Neither follows you anywhere else.
Something not right?
Tell us. A real person reads it and a real person replies.
